HOW MATTRESSES ARE RECYCLED
Only 5% of mattresses cannot be recycled. So when you don’t sleep on it anymore, recycle it!
The mattresses are opened, and the foam is cut out.
The rest of the mattress goes into a shredder where it is broken into pieces.
The materials then go into a shaker that separates recyclable materials. A typical mattress or bed case contains 48% metal, 26% Polyether & Polyurethane, 5% wood, 3% cotton, 3% polyester, and 3% felt.
Everything is bundled up and each material is shipped to different recycling markets.
